In a first-of-its-kind initiative in the Arab world, the Dubai government has launched The Humanitarian Accelerators.

The initiative is launched in collaboration with Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiative (MBRGI) and Dubai Future Accelerators.

The accelerator is dedicated to improve the financial efficiency of humanitarian oreganizations and supporting technology approaches in the humanitarian space.

“It aims at consolidating efficiency and leapfrogging conventional technology approaches in humanitarian work,” said UAE’s vice president and prime minister and ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

It will help increase the efficiency of humanitarian organisations so that more people around the world can be helped, said Sheikh Mohammed.

The goal of the Humanitarian Accelerators is to harness the potential of advanced technology in order to improve the lives of others, he said.

Innovative thinking can help accelerate philanthropic work and tackle humanitarian challenges, said Sheikh Mohammed.

The Humanitarian Accelerators aims to offer access to quality education to all children, including refugees by providing e-learning tools and developing innovative mechanisms, such as websites. It also seeks to provide access to clean water in underprivileged countries.

The Humanitarian Accelerators will also focus on finding electronic solutions and developing a platform for e-business in order to give refugees around the world a platform to leverage their skills.

Besides, it aims to enhance the amount and quality of Arabic content online.

It will also add a humanitarian element of Dubai Future Accelerators, which is designed to identify emergent technologies and create effective partnerships.

To date, 65 international companies have participated in the Dubai Future Accelerators programme
